Interview: Meet and Greet Monday – Blogger: Inside the rainbow

BLOG 0060 - Picture 5

So, another Monday and another Meet and Greet.  This week I have the pleasure of interviewing Tracy from the blog

Tracy’s blog is always interesting and is often peppered with witty and dry humour that often makes me genuinely chuckle.  Her honest and bare-all posts are refreshingly grounded and regularly include nostalgic recollections that, as I’m of a similar age, often get me thinking about my own past.  I always look forward to her posts and enjoy our follow-up comments-section banter.

So, Tracy, without any further ado, please let me ask you:

Who on Earth are you?

I am a forty-something wife, mother and misfit.

And where on Earth are you?

I live in a Victorian mill town in Lancashire. Technically, it’s Greater Manchester but historically it was Lancashire. I can live in either, depending on what mood I’m in.

So, when did you start blogging?

About five years ago.

Okay, growed up question time.  If you were a Muppet, which would it be and why?

Animal because he plays the drums and I have a thing for drummers. Also…he’s insane.

And…if you could be a Superhero, what would your superpower be and why?

Invisibility so I can have a root through Nick Rhode’s bins without being seen. JOKING!

For those unsure (I had to look it up, Nick Rhodes is one of the founding members of the band that was so good, they named it twice – Duran Duran).

Blog - Nick Rhodes

Okay, what is your favourite sci-fi character and why?

Sarah Connor (Terminator) because she’s a badass who looks good in vest tops.

If anyone needs a second opinion on this, I can definitely confirm that yes, yes she does look good in a vest top.  mmmmm.  I digress.

If you had a choice of which actor could play your life story, who would it be and why?

Kathy Burke. She’s the only actress I know who can carry funny and miserable off at the same time.

Dang that’s a good choice!

So, back to our regular viewing:  What were you thinking?  What first interested you in becoming a blogger?

I can type better than I can talk.

And what exactly is it that you blog about?

I blog about autism, music, life, death, menopause and ageing (disgracefully)

Is blogging for you a vocation or do you do it just for fun?

I do it to maintain my sanity, what’s left of it.

Warning:  Silly questions are nearer than they appear in this mirror!

What is your favourite biscuit/cookie and why?  (Please be thorough in your answer with this as it could one day form part of a legal defence.  I’m just sayin’)

Chocolate digestives and if you touch my stash, I’ll have to kill you.

I’ve noticed this is very much a common theme with my female interviewees.  Readers who may have inadvertently stumbled upon this page by mistake whilst actually looking for dating sites, take note, don’t get between women and their biscuits.  Especially chocolate ones!

If you were stranded on a desert island, what luxury item would you take and why?

It’s been a lifelong ambition of mine to be stranded on a desert island with Nick Rhodes.

Okay Lady, step away from Nick Rhodes.  Don’t pretend you can’t hear me, I can see you hiding in the bushes!

Do you think that your blog has changed or evolved since it began?

Well, I’ve sorted out a few grammatical errors, notably its and it’s.

We’ll its good to see some1 who takes grammu seriously.

Do you think that your blog/s are making a difference to your readers and/or do you feel as though you are connecting with them in any way?

If I can make ONE person laugh, I’m happy.

Well, not sure if it counts, but you certainly make me laugh!  Sorry, I don’t mean that in a derogatory sort of, “Who do you think you’re kidding?” kind of way.  Ahem…

What are your inspirations or interests outside of blogging?

I read books, listen to music and boss my OH about. I’m kidding!! Or am I?

If you had the opportunity to go drinking with anyone from history, who would it be, where would you drink and why?

I’d take Elvis out for a pint down our local to show him off, like.

If your tyre blew out and you could choose a famous person to help change it, who would it be and why?

Nick Rhodes. Then I’d throw him in my boot. JOKING!!

“Yes, hello?  Is that the emergency services?…”

Have you found other bloggers that you would recommend?

Well, there is this nice fella who blogs over at The Way of the Squirrel *winks* Erm, top of my head, I’ve just come across a new blog called Momentum of Jo. Funny lady.

Without using names or blog titles, have you ever found blogs/blogger that you would now avoid?

Have you changed the format or way you blog since you started out, if so why?

I had the blog design done by a nice lady who works in a shed, posh shed, mind you. I wanted the design to be unique to me.

Dang, I have to say that is a fantastic design too!  I’m a bit of a doodler myself but that is really-really cool!

Ghosts, real or not?

Aliens?  Do you think they exist?  If so, threat or blessing?

I’m still waiting for the Mothership to come and get me.

What about the Daddyship?

Humans, still evolving or slowly regressing?

Regressing, thanks to technology.

Donald Trump, real person or poorly made animatronic?

He’s real. His hair is a poorly made animatronic.

Do you use any other forms of social media?  If so, which and how do you feel they compare? (Feel free to include links to your other social media(s) if you want them promoted)

I use Twitter, mainly to stalk Duran Duran. You can find me at @Rainbowfanglers

Is there anything that annoys or disappoints you about blogging/bloggers/readers?

Those who visit blogs with an agenda. I want people to read my blog because they enjoy what I write. Similarly, I will comment (or like) a post I’ve enjoyed or identified with, for no other reason than that.

Are there any hints and tips that you’d like to share with people who are interested in becoming bloggers or even for existing bloggers?

Keep it real.

What is your favourite Movie (or book) android/robot?

Lock. Stock and Two Smoking Barrels

Who would win in a fight, Neo (from the matrix), or Anne Widdecombe?

Widdecombe. I mean, would YOU mess with her?

What/who is your favourite children’s television character from your childhood?

As in Zippy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars?

Is there anything else that you would like to say to any potential new readers of your blog?

My blog is best read with alcohol.

I know it is difficult for most people to do but I’m going to ask you to please advertise your blog.  Why should people check you out and what might they expect to find on your blog?

They can expect to find the ramblings of a bonefide nutter but apparently, I make people laugh.

 Thanks Tracy.

Again, I highly recommend Tracy’s writings.  I find them fun and quirky and I always look forward to her next posts.

As ever, if you have any questions or concerns or, indeed, if you would like to take part in the Meet and Greet Monday series, please feel free to contact me at
