Interview: Meet and Greet Monday – Blogger: Tattooedmummy
Welcome again to Meet and Greet Monday where I aim to interview fellow bloggers in order to introduce them to fellow bloggers and readers as we don’t always get to know the people behind the blogs themselves.
Today’s blogger is http://www.tattooedmummy.co.uk/ who, in her own words and like myself, doesn’t have a particular theme to her blog. Her site is well organised and easily accessed and it is Tattooedmummy’s “Wordy Wednesday” section, where she interviews aspiring or published authors, which inspired me to begin Meet and Greet Monday.
I met http://www.tattooedmummy.co.uk/ as part of a reviewing process that we were both involved in for a Children’s Toy website, MYWICKEDUNCLE.COM and Since then I have kept up with her wordy Wednesday interviews.
So, Tattooedmummy, firstly let me just say thank you for taking part. Please pull up a virtual chair and…no not that one, the other virtual chair…and let’s begin. So, your starter for 10.
Who on Earth are you?
I’m a 50 year old mum, I live on the South coast of the UK, a stone’s throw from the sea. I only have one child, a daughter. Still married to my long suffering (23 years now!) husband. I have the medical condition Charcot Marie Tooth (an Hereditary sensory and Motor Neuropathy) but it doesn’t stop me being a camping enthusiast and playing about in tents a lot.
When did you start blogging?
Long, long ago. I started blogging just before I turned 40, more as a diary and place to moan about things then (nothing has changed!)
What were you thinking?
As above, it seemed like a place I could shout out into the void…never knowing if anyone was listening but it felt slightly saner than using a megaphone in the Asda car park.
Okay, serious question time. If you were a Muppet, which would it be and why?
Beaker, the lab assistant, he’s gormless and clumsy but I suspect he secretly knows lots.
What the heck are you talking about?
My blog has never had a theme and I don’t think it ever will, I like it to just be ‘me’ themed. I rant I advise, I talk about things I like…but I did start a spin off blog http://www.tentsandfestivals.co.uk/ all about camping and the great outdoors as that’s a passion of mine.
Do you think that your blogs are making a difference to your readers or do you feel as though you are connecting with them in any way?
I’ll be honest, I’ve stopped caring, I’m just about to turn off comments so that I don’t worry about the fact I have none! People read or they don’t, primarily my blog is my space. I use twitter for communication, it’s faster.
I have to say, as a fellow blogger, there’s nothing more annoying than constantly writing blogs when people rarely leave feedback of any kind. It’s like having a conversation on the phone for ages and then suddenly asking if the other person is “still there?” because nothings’ coming back L
Have you found other bloggers that you would recommend?
I have some on a side bar on my blog, I love http://post40bloggers.com/ where I’m an editor, http://3childrenandit.com/ which is just hilarious (and thoughtful by turns) and http://motherhoodjourneys.com/ which is just lovely.
If you were stranded on a desert island and could only take one food, which would it be and why?
Chillis, I add chillis to anything yum!
Do you use any other form of social media? If so, which and how do you feel they compare?
twitter is my love, facebook I use but don’t really like, I use Google+ but still don’t really understand it
Is there anything that annoys or disappoints you about blogging?
I get annoyed when people tell you the rules. There are no rules. It’s your blog, post stuff on it.
Are there any hints and tips that you’d like to share with people who are interested in becoming bloggers or, of course, to existing bloggers?
Having said there are no rules, there are tips of course, don’t worry about stats, be friendly to other bloggers and on twitter. If you want to make money at it, have a theme. Write good stuff and share it.
If you had the opportunity to go drinking with anyone from history, who would it be and why?
Oliver Reed. What a man, he would drink me under the table obviously but what fun and there is always the chance of a naked wrestle before an open fire…excuse me…I’m off for a cold shower…
You’re off? Eh? Hello? Oh, well she seems to have gone. Hmm, she didn’t even put her virtual chair back. Well, thanks again to tattooed mummy for taking the time to complete this short questionnaire for me and for taking part in MEET AND GREET MONDAY.
